Love Danai Gurira as the zombie-stabbin’ Michonne? How about her memorable turn as warrior Okoye in Black Panther? Fury the martial Scout Fairy in Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast? Well, it turns out Gurira is more than just a pretty, fierce face.
CARE, the Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere, is an organization founded in 1945. (The phrase “care package?” That’s all them.) Their current goal is to end extreme world poverty by 2030.
On November 21st, Gurira was honored at CARE’s Global Impact Awards (which itself raised over 2 million dollars) for her work as a “relentless advocate for women.” Gurira not only works as a UN Women Global Ambassador, but she has her own nonprofit called Love Our Girls. It’s too much awesome to summarize here, just go check it out: https://logpledge.org/
